Tech # 4: Ready to use Web resources

Are you going to be a social studies teacher? I have some ready to use online resources  for you in your classroom.  The first online resource I found helpful is the National Film Board(NFB) of Canada. NFB is an archive of more than 40 documentary films produced  by the First Nations of Canada. The Historical, social,  economic, cultural and political aspects of the Indigenous peoples of Canada  from early European contact to the present days are documented and narrated in these documentary films which it  found as an important source of information for social studies teachers at different levels. It has also different interactive educational pages and educational blogs.  If you click NFB you will have access to Ocean of resources.

Here is useful website that can be used at all grade levels

The website relates stories of European explorers and traders in their search for new lands. The Northwest Passage such as Henry Hudson and others.  It talked about Hudson’s Bay, the North West Companies, the creation of Rupert’s Land and the western expansion of Canada. It explained the operations of the Hudson’s Bay and the North West Companies and described the competition between them.

It also describes life during the Fur Trade Era in the 1650s. European expansion and interests in the fur trade and how it shaped Canadian history.  It talked about the Influence of the fur trade, the expansion of the fur trade and the challenges faced by Individuals living during the fur trade era and how vast regions of North American continent were explored.

in this website you can find Teacher  resource, videos, virtual Museum, coloring page, e-books, and more. I hope you would like it.
